With the help of color highlighting, you can visually assess some of the trends and perspectives of the horoscope, as well as the prevailing influences. It should be borne in mind that not all combinations (yogas) have equal strength, on the contrary, their weight varies greatly depending on:

1) The strengh of the planet forming yoga, according to the position (the exaltation of the planet and the position in the own sign - give the best result).

2) The functional status of this planet.

3) The number of connections between houses and the strength of each of the connections. The more of them and they are stronger (closer to one), the more reliable the influence of yoga is manifested.

In order to correctly interpret the horoscope, you must first identify the strongest yogas and determine the time of their implementation according to Vimshottari dasha. Some combinations of the horoscope (good or bad), even if strong, may not find a special manifestation in a person`s life if their period according to Vimshottari dasha does not occur during the period of youth or maturity of a person.

Thus, one must first study Parivartana yogas and the following 3 connections, for the strongest planets in position, taking into account their nature, and then make sure that the main period of the planets found will occur on time, only then can correct conclusions about astrological influences be made.

If you see contradictions in the indications of periods and sub-periods (as well as other factors of the horoscope), then it may be both. If the contradictions are mutually exclusive, then what you encounter several times more often will manifest itself. Clouds gather when you see a negative influence both in the position of the planet and in its periods, but even in this case, the negative influence should occur at least 3 times more often, the opposite in meaning.

The BPHS states that Shiva gave the knowledge of Yogini dasha to his consort Parvati and recommended it for all occasions and especially during the Kali Yuga. This dasha system has been the mainstream of many Indian astrologers over the past few centuries. It is used in the same way as vimshottari dasha. When the readings of the two dashas support each other, the event looks more certain.

Navamsa (D-9)

Note! There are different (alternative) principles for calculating divisional charts; in these calculations, a "cyclical" ("mathematical") method is used, i.e. the same as used in calculating the Navamsa (D9) by Parashara. However, some other vargas (D3, D4, D5, D10, etc.) are calculated according to the method described in Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, differently (not by the "cyclical" method). In addition to the Parashara and "cyclical" methods, for some divisional charts there are additional calculation methods that completely change the view of the chart.

The cyclical calculation method is used by Parashara for the following divisional charts: D7, D9, D16, D20, D27. Therefore, in these vargas, there will be no differences with the jyotish softwares (most of them) in the calculation results. It should also be taken into account that Rahu and Ketu are calculated using two different algorithms, resulting in true lunar nodes and average lunar nodes. Between them there can be a difference of less than 1 degree, which is sensitive when building divisional charts. For this reason, Rahu and Ketu can fall into neighboring signs sometimes in different softwares.

Note! You can calculate about 60 variants of divisional charts by selecting them from the drop-down list. There are different (alternative) principles for constructing divisional charts, but the classic and basic methods are those described by Rishi Parasara in the Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra. He also collected the most important of them in groups of 6 (shad-varga), 7 (sapta-varga), 10 (dasha-varga) or 16 (shodash-varga) divisions. In each group, the number of times a certain planet occupies its own sign, moolatrikona or sign of exaltation is counted. The resulting number determines the strength of the planet in divisional charts - amshabala.

Navamsha dasha

Navamsha dasha is used in Jaimini astrology, only for the the same name D9 chart.

Arudhas on the site and here are considered "without exception" and without taking into account Rahu and Ketu, as co-rulers of Aquarius and Scorpio.

Note! Ashtakvarga shows favorable influences from the relative position of the planets (from all the planets in the birth chart for the studied one) in one or another sign of the Zodiac.

Bhinna AshtakaVarga (BAV) - is considered for one specific planet or Lagna.

Samudaya-ashtakavarga (SAV) - the total influence on the sign and house, from all sources (BAV of the 7 planets). There are disagreements whether to include BAV of the Lagna in SAV or not. Most often, BAV of the Lagna are not taken into account in SAV, and then we are talking about SAV of 337 rekhas (wholesome points). But, there are supporters of including BAV of the Lagna in the total amount and then they talk about SAV from 386 rekhas. There is also confusion between northern and southern schools of Jyotish as to how to call positive points from the planets in ashtakavarga. Some call them rekha and others call them bindu. And negative scores, respectively, vice versa. On this website, the names rekha and bindu only refer to positive scores! Negative scores are usually not studied, only the lack of positive ones.

Here is the argumentation of those who take into account BAV of the lagna in the total amount of SAV (according to the book "Ashtakavarga" by M.S. Mehta)

1) Parashara gave Ashtakvarga of the Lagna also to make it Ashtak (eight). He allocated only 49 bindus for this.

2) The ashtaka of the lagna is an essential factor in order to calculate the lifespan.

3) While the lagna is fixed, its lord gives effects in transit. (Also, every day the lagna circles the entire Zodiac in 24 hours. The score of the birth lagna thus shows those signs of the Zodiac that will be better or worse from the position of muhurta - the selection of the best time for undertakings).

Most astrologers are of the opinion that only 337 bindu should be used, here are their arguments.

1) In the bhinnashtaka of the various planets, auspicious places from the lagna have already been taken into account. It is useless to add it twice.

2) Lagna is a fixed concept and has no transit. (Debatable, see muhurta argument above.)

3) If Ashtak of the Lagna is added, the Sum of Sarvashtakavarga becomes 386, which divided by 12 gives us a result of 32, but all Ashtakvarga sources use 28 bindus as the average strength for the Sign.

Please note that on the website the calculation of Ashtakvarga is carried out according to the tradition of Rishi Parashara. There are minor differences in the tradition transmitted by Varahamihira. For this reason, SAV calculated according to Varahamihira may differ slightly from this one in 2-3 points.

According to ashtakvarga, AyuAshtakvarga is calculated, i.e. the average life span that the ashtakavarga may promise, but this should not be confused with the actual human life span, which can be either longer or shorter than promised, depending on a large number of other factors in the horoscope.

Ayuashtakavarga. Basic lifespan (not actual!), according to Ashtakavarga: 61 y. 2 m. 17 d.. This number is subject to adjustment according to certain factors of the horoscope, it should be considered only as an opportunity or "margin of safety at the start."

Ashtakvarga dhana yoga

A description of the conditions of the formation of yoga: If in Samudaya Ashtakavarga the 11th house has more Rekhas than the 10th house, the 12th house has less Rekhas than the 11th house, and the lagna has more Rekhas (than the 12th house), such a person will be lucky (he will have different kinds of comfort) and rich. If the situation is reversed (in the 12th house there are more Rekhas than in the 11th and in the Lagna), the person will work in poverty.

Calculation result: The 12th house has more rekhas (31) than the 11th (30) and 1st (30). A person will work hard but will not be able to save money. Note. The 12th house may be stronger with income from distant countries (places).

Ashtakvarga dhana yoga

Ashtakavarga yoga

Aspects of 60 and 120 degrees are considered friendly; when applying, they give events that come together by themselves, without much effort. When separating, they give departed opportunities, losses without grief or regret.

Aspects of 90 and 180 degrees are considered hostile; when applying, they give events that will require great effort to realize. When separating, they show loss after struggle and great effort.

An aspect of 0 degrees is "mixed", and its nature depends on the condition (strength) and the sphere of responsibility (functional status) of the planets forming it.

The orbs (deeptamsha) of the planets - the allowable deviation from the exact value of an angular aspect - are calculated as the arithmetic mean of the allowable values of the two planets in the pair. For the seven planets these values are as follows: the Sun - 15 degrees, the Moon - 12, Mars - 8, Mercury - 7, Jupiter - 9, Venus - 7, Saturn - 9.

Note! The "Planetary Relations..." table is given for reference. Such a system of planetary relations is used only in Tajaka astrology (it is not applied in birth horoscopes). It is the basis for calculating the "Pancha-vargiya-bala" - a method for evaluating the strength of planets by five factors (see the table below).

Friendly relations arise when planets are placed in the 3rd, 5th, 9th or 11th houses from each other; hostile - for planets in the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th houses from each other; neutral relations - for planets in the 2nd, 6th, 8th and 12th houses from each other.
 

Note! Pancha-vargiya-bala is a system for evaluating the strength of planets by five factors; it is used only in the Tajaka system of astrology and is needed, for example, to determine the Varshesha - the planet that is the lord of the year.

Griha-bala, also known as Kshetra-bala, evaluates the strength of a planet depending on its placement in its own, a friendly or a hostile sign of the Zodiac in the main chart of the year (the solar return); the maximum score is 30. Friendly, neutral and hostile planets are determined from the table given above.

Drekkana-bala and Navamsha-bala do the same in the divisional charts D3 and D9. The maximum scores are 10 and 5, respectively.

Hadda-bala considers, by the same criteria, the position of a planet in 5 unequal parts of a Zodiac sign. Each of these parts belongs to one of 5 planets, excluding the Sun and the Moon. This system of dividing the Zodiac is similar to the one known in Western astrology as "terms", but does not coincide with it in every respect. The maximum score is 15.

Uchcha-bala evaluates proportionally how close a planet is to the degree of its maximum exaltation. The maximum score is 20.

The total sum of points for all 5 factors, divided by 4, gives the Vishva-bala. If a planet's Vishva-bala exceeds 15 points, it is considered Parakrami - very strong. When the Vishva-bala is from 10 to 15, the planet becomes Purna-bali - it has full strength. A Vishva-bala from 5 to 10 shows medium strength of the planet - Madhya-bali. A Vishva-bala below 5 - Alpa-bali, a weak planet. A strong planet brings success, and a weak one brings failures.

Note! Sahams are similar to the "parts" (lots) of Western and Arabic astrology; they are calculated as the distance between certain planets measured from the Lagna. As a rule, the calculation of a saham differs for day and night horoscopes. The Punya saham is similar to the "Part of Fortune" and is the most important one in the chart, showing overall well-being and the inclination to perform virtuous deeds. A saham gains strength when:

a) The lord of the saham is exalted, is in its own sign in the main chart and in the divisional charts, or is placed in a good house and in friendly signs.

b) The saham is conjoined with a planet friendly to its lord, or with a natural benefic planet, or with the lord of the year.

c) The lord of the saham is conjoined with it or aspects it, or aspects the Lagna.

A saham becomes weak when:

a) The lord of the saham is weak by Pancha-vargiya-bala (Vishva-bala less than 5 points).

b) The lord of the saham is weak by placement in the main chart and the divisional charts.

c) The lord of the saham is neither conjoined with the saham nor aspects it.

d) The saham is conjoined with a planet hostile to its lord, or with a natural malefic.

e) A saham in the 6th, 8th or 12th house, or one aspected by the lords of these houses, is considered weakened.
